It all came to a head this weekend at Lights Out 7, where the weeks of back and forth between competitors finally resulted in them putting their cards on the table and proving their worth at Lights Out 7, South Georgia Motorsports Par.

Haney put down a pass of 3.894 seconds/191.81mph on drag radials in his Chevrolet Camaro, considered to be the quickest e.t. in Drag Radial history, the car being a complete secret until now.

The $50,100 prize may been an inspiration those monstrous pass, but stay tuned for the full spec. of Haney’s car.

From Haney’s blog – “If it wasn’t for Brandon Switzer and Brandon Pesz, Andrew Arnold, Reher-Morrison,
Martin Mickie, Lucas Oil, Racing Junk, Larry Jeffers, and all my guys at Keith
Haney Racing, this wouldn’t have happened,” Haney said. “If it wasn’t for my family,
my wife, my kids, this wouldn’t have happened. I’ve never been away from home for
10 days, not one time, but they’ve let me.
“I could go home tomorrow and know that I accomplished what everybody
said I couldn’t do. But it wasn’t me.”
Haney said he simply lets “go of the button” on the starting line, while plenty of
people have worked countless hours preparing his new car. It started with Larry Jeffers
Race Cars building a state-of-the-art chassis, and then Switzer, Dan Carver, and
Brian Sitton from Switzer Dynamics finished the car.
“Larry Jeffers built the chassis, and then it went to Brandon Switzer’s,” Haney said.
“Brandon and his guys all worked very hard putting this car together. They had some
late nights, sleepless nights, long hours. I created hell for these guys.”
Haney also gives credit to Reher-Morrison Racing Engines for good horsepower, to
Mark Mickie of M&M Transmissions for helping harness that power, and Menscer
Motorsports for building a set of shocks this week.
And, of course, he thanks Switzer and Pesz for tuning the engine/chassis combination.
The duo had never tuned a Drag Radial car until this week, when Haney tested the
new car at Orlando Speed World before coming to SGMP.
“Guess what? They just know how to drag race,” Haney said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a
big tire or a little tire. What matters is they put as much passion and hard work
into as I do in driving.”

1964 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible, One Off Wide Body, ZR1 Carbon Brakes, 685HP LS7

– Powered by a Lingenfelter built LS7, with Corvette ZR1 Carbon Brakes. Full interior with Air Conditioning, Power windows, Power door locks, Interval Wipers, Tilt Wheel, Hydraulic Power Brakes.
– Street Shop frame that was built to accept full width C6 front and rear suspension sub frames.
– C6 Corvette front and rear sub frames were added along with associated A arms and C6 steering Rack. A LG dropped – – – – – Spindles were added along with SKF race bearings.
– 2010 Corvette ZR1 carbon Rotors and Calipers were added.
– The engine is a 685 Flywheel HP Lingenfelter built Dry Sump LS7 with a Peterson 10 Qt remote tank and CCV tank.
– Exhaust goes through modified ceramic coated Hooker side mount headers, then through Flowmaster side mount Mufflers.
– All the power goes through a McLeod RST double disc clutch set up to a D&D built T56 Transmission.
– Shifting is handled by a Pro 5 shifter through a custom shift handle.
– The power is transmitted to the rear end through a custom Carbon fiber drive shaft.
– On to the rear the center section was sent out and filled with a OS Giken Differential and 3.54 gears. To which Driveline shop HD half shafts were used to supply the power to the rear wheels.
– The wheels are 10X19 front and 12X20 rear stock Corvette ZR1 wheels with Michelin PS2 run flat tires.
– To this a full ABS system was added to help control the braking. The nice thing is that all the C6 parts are readily available.
– A Ricks 16 gallon fuel tank with Vapor works fuel pick up system was also added. Then the Body was widened and massaged to flow over all four corners to fit over the C6 running gear.
– The fenders are actually widen 8″ on each side The hood was then modified to accept air extractors to help keep the front of the car on the ground.
– Custom Front and rear spoilers were added also to help in down force.
– The battery is located in the right rear wheel well and has a safety shut off switch.
– The seats are Corbeau with 5 point harness’s.
– The steering column is a Ididit. Parking brake moved to center tunnel like a 67.
– The body has side vents and rear backup lights to look like a 67.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS

Engine: 355 Small Block.
Transmission: Turbo 400 Automatic, trans brake valve body and hardened input shafts and drum. The converter is a hipster.
Steel crank, polished rods with speed pro forged pistons and total seal rings, comp cams hydraulic cam for a blower, Dart iron heads with 200 CC intake ports and 2.02, 1.60 valves with comp cams pro magnum rocker arms, 671 blower with twin carbs, MSD distributor and MSD digital 7 ignition.
Four link rear suspension with Strange coil over shocks.

Chassis and roll cage were built by Alston Race cars and the roll cage will certify 25.5 which allows times as fast as 7.50.
Front suspension has tubular upper and lower control arms with qa1 coil over shocks.
Nine inch Ford with 4 30 gears.

Cage and sheet metal work was done by Alston Racing.

Motor:
The blue print motor is a 383 stroker motor with an eagle H-beam rotating system. Its has 6 inch connecting rods with forged dished pistons and a static compression ration of 8:1. The intake system has a Whipple super charger with an inter-cooler machined into the intake manifold and produces 15-20PSI of boost (very fun to ride). Under the Holley double pumper carburetor it has a Snow performance methanol injection system and a 200HP wet nitrous system that has never been used before. The heads are after market and have been ported, polished, and machined for max flow.

Transmission:
The transmission is a 400 turbo with a 2500rpm stall converter. It has a B&M shift kit and many more up grades to list.

Rear end:
It had the rear end removed and machined to allow upgraded gears to accept 31 spline half shafts. The half shafts have been upgrades to 4″ shafts. The rear mono spring has been upgraded to a 600 foot pound mono-spring.

Rims and Tires:
The corvette has 18″ Torque thruster rims with drag slick tires and comes with stock rims/tires set.

Suspension:  Front suspension is a tube axle all chrome setup from Pete & Jakes and the rear is a P&J four link with polished coilover shocks.

Brakes:  Chrome Wilwood disks brakes, power assisted and drum rear brakes from a Ford 1/2 ton truck.
