The lingerie by Honey Birdette and the close up view of Lottie are the clear subjects of this image, but a wider view of the car would have been nice to add even more interest to the image, especially for fans of the muscle car. Lottie and/or the photographer have a clear interest in muscle cars, so why not show off both to their best?

Oldsmobile first produced vehicles under the name of Olds Motor Vehicle Co., starting in 1897. The company was bought by General Motors in 1908 and produce many noticeable models, especially in the golden years of vintage muscle cars between 1968 and 1972. The company is often quoted as producing the first muscle car with the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88. A medium-sized vehicle with a 304ci. (5.0L) from the Oldsmobile 98 and the body from the Oldsmobile 76.

The Classic muscle car period saw models from the company such as the Oldsmobile 442 and Oldsmobile Cutlass with huge displacement engines such as the 400ci. V8 and 455ci. V8. Variants of both vehicles are some of the most respected from this period.

This 1969 Chevrolet Nova in bright yellow is definitely going to stand out from the crowd. It’s been dressed up to look like a Yenko, has a 350 V8 with mild cam headers, but not much more information provided about the car.

It has SS badges on the rear, but not on the front, so taking this as a base model dressed up. No idea if the powertrain is numbers matching or it’s a new unit. What the car does have is great condition, both inside and out. I’ve seen a few listings from these guys and one thing they do always have are vehicles in great condition at reasonable prices.

This Nova is in beautiful condition and as long as you’re okay with it being a Yenko Tribute car to an extent, this would make a really nice vintage ride and not too expensive.

I was watching Barrett-Jackson over the weekend and saw the normal parade of rare cars.
At times I get bored or overly complacent with the never ending Corvettes, Camaros and Mustang parade. One after another. Ho hum. But, I noticed two Superbirds were coming on up on Saturday so I set the DVR just in case I fell asleep.

Well, the first rolls up and it’s a white Hemi powered car and it has a reserve. Well, after much belly aching the mighty bird does not meet the reserve. Darn. But, later the second one rolls up and it too is a White Superbird and it is a Hemi as well. So, I drop what I was reading and paid attention. The bidding roars off quick but suddenly slows down. Then the reserve is lifted and now I am paying attention. Gong, it sells for 300k and I am shocked. I see Birds that are just simple 440 engines sell for 175-200k and they are advertised as rarer than rare. So, I assume a bird with a Hemi is going to be a minimum of 500k and could bring up to a million.

Chrysler did not make that many Hemi birds. Now, it was white and not Hemi Orange but still. A Hemi Superbird for a mere 300k? What’s wrong? Was it because it was not the big auction in January?
Now 300k is still a lot of money but we all have seen these go for much more. Basically, I think someone got a great deal here. Maybe the auction house should have used a set up like in this picture. Instead, a bunch of people wandering around the stage in utter confusion. Who are all those people on the stage anyway? Did the Bird get the attention it should have had?

Buying a rarity…
It seems when a COPO or Yenko comes on stage it is a frenzy or a Shelby, I mean a real Shelby from the 1960’s it seems like Steve Davis cannot let it go without saying his two cents through his sunglasses.
A rare Superbird rolls up with a even rarer Hemi and its treated like any other Plymouth. Maybe I am overreacting but I have gotten a bit bored with these auctions. At times it seems some of these cars travel auction to auction. The high bid was that rare L88 Corvette for 500k plus. We have seen this same guy before. Seems he buys all the rare Corvettes and then re sells them at a huge profit and everyone is in shock. Good for him but I am starting to become either numb or suspicious. The house was packed as it was the first time B-J came to the northeast. That is why you saw so many Porches there. But, the auction had to be a money success just some cars went cheaply. Is that because the bubble burst or smarter heads finally prevailed? I am not sure but when I see a Superbird Hemi sell for 300k I start scratching my pointy head.

I am going to Mecum in October to see for myself because there were so many commercials on at the time that we at home missed out on some great cars. They spent so much time promoting on TV and online that the auction at times was limited. Limited in that you would see two or three cars and then watch nine commercials. I know someone has to pay for all this hype but it seemed like something was off kilter here. Again, maybe it was me. I shall see for myself in a few months what’s going on.

We usually turn off straight away when a car is advertised as a ‘tribute,’ but when it is accompanied with such fine photography and such a pretty lady, it’s worth noting……and obviously the quality of the car…

With these tribute vehicles, you have to take them on individual merit and sometimes, it’s better just to refer to them as a restomod or similar, as in this case.
This example is a complete restoration, 454 engine, 700R4 4-Speed transmission, with a huge list of upgrades, inside and out. You have to really look closely to see it’s not an original SS.

So, really, the ‘tribute’ moniker really does it a disservice.

A flame paint job on a car is a very subjective thing.

The idea is to support and promote women in motorsport, give them media coverage and help with the business and marketing side of things.
The idea was to start an all-female race team, which has now evolved into more of a brand and a following.

This isn’t to promote fist banging feminism, but an equal playing field for all who want to take part in motorsport. Plain and simple.

There are many other facets where women add to the mix in the hobby and sport.
Basically, the girls think of stuff that wouldn’t be immediately obvious to the guys. Take Gina Woods with her Horsepower Chocolate Bar project for motorsport. Making healthier snacks which aren’t your unusual hydrated fat and sugar filled chocolate bars, just wouldn’t occur to me.
Beneficial help, advice and support to those in the sport and hobby is arguably something the girls will be much better at than the guys and this is something everybody needs when coming up through the sport, which is essentially a large part of what horsepower and heels provides. All good stuff…..

Firstly, this post was borne out from receiving messages on our Facebook page about cars and girls. Mainly, as some people objected to women being glamorised or shown in provocative ways just to sell a car or bring attention to a certain vehicle. So, I thought it best to address this point as opinions on the matter cover the complete spectrum of positive to negative, depending on who you ask.

For all the people I have asked (men and women), I received just as many different points of view or opinions as the people I asked and rightly so. The opinions ranged from, ‘yeah, more!’ to the extremes of it is utterly sexist and degrading to women.

Female models have been hired to model alongside vehicles, almost as long as vehicles have existed themselves.
With a predominantly male orientated market, it is an obvious and easy way to draw attention to any vehicle.
As the decades rolled by, this still obviously works. A pretty lady next to a car brings more attention than a car on its own.
The question really boils down to how this is done.

Personally, I don’t think we are talking about adult entertainment here, but more a naughty and cheeky way to draw attention to any car.
The models who do this type of work know they are there to draw attention to the vehicles and related products, almost one enhances the other.
In that respect, it can also work both ways, models if hired regularly, get exposure and thus have more work, so they are advancing their careers in modelling. Some models specialise in the car market and do very well at this line of modelling. To deny them this area of work, could deny some from their only revenue stream.
Jessica Barton maybe a good example. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Barton Many of the images of her modelling next to cars, can be seen as very provocative, but from all the car related images ( excluding non-car images) I’ve seen Jessica featured within, show no nudity – very provocative, but no nudity.
This is a girl who also owns and races her own vehicles and now has a reputation within this area.
In an alternative world where all her images were completely banned, Jessica would probably be off doing something completely different, succeeding just as well or not, we don’t know, but at present she has been more than successful as a model and a promoter of the automotive industry, showing it can work out for automotive models.
Still too risque? That’s really down to personal opinion.

But the flipside of the coin, would I take my young niece and nephew to a car show or show them images of a vehicle with a lady provocatively dressed and posed next to a car? Probably not, but thinking about a car show like SEMA, there is a vast array of female models on show, some more provocatively dressed and posed more than others, but still in the realms of decency. Would I take my niece and nephew there? Yes, as the benefits far outweigh them been scarred for life by seeing ladies promoting vehicles and their accessories.

The debate on if women should be used to promote vehicles will probably rage on forever.
But take a close look at the attached image with this post. The auction image shows the lady holding her hands up in the air to get attention. But the audience seemed to be more concerned with the car, as all serious auction buyers and sellers would be. The ladies is there to make the vehicle more attractive and attention grabbing and the car for her.

The driveline of the Plymouth.
Under the hood it’s clean with it all being painted correct.
It’s powered by the correct 375HP 440 V8 that is dressed with Chrome Valve Covers and Breather.
The exhaust was changed to headers with duals.
The trans is a 727 Automatic mated to an 8 ¾ rear end.
It comes with Power Steering and Power brakes.
When you look under this GTX all the floors looks solid with good frame rails.
You can see that it has new Brakes and fuel lines.
It looks to have the factory under coating that was painted at the time of the resto.

The exterior of the GTX.
When you walk around it you will see an arrow straight body with great lines. The fit of the panels is very good. The black vinyl Top shows well with the Orange Paint that has a slick finish and deep rich shine. It has the twin Hood scoops like the GTX was supposed to have. At the time of the resto they replaced the bumpers and other trim. All the stainless looks good as well as the glass. All the weather stripping is in good shape. It’s sitting on a set of magnum wheels and white letter tires.

The interior of the ’67.
When you look at the inside it’s all done in black with the correct bucket seats and console. It has the factory floor shift as well. The seat covers, carpet, and panels all look like new with the headliner also being new. The dash all looks correct with it retaining the stock radio and steering wheel.

This is an older restoration that still has good eye appeal. The body is covered in Bolero Red Paint that shows some age but still has a deep rich shine. It has the correct SS hood and badges. When you look at the glass it appears to have a new windshield, but the rest appears to be factory. All the stainless shows very well and looks to have new bumeprs as well as some other trim. The final exterior touch is a set of 15×8 Vett Rallys and white letter tires.

Next, we will move to the interior of the ’67. It is all done in the classic black that provides a great complement to the exterior scheme. This is a factory bench seat column shift car. The carpet and seats look very good along with the headliner. They added a set of under dash gauges along with a Pioneer CD player and a wood steering wheel. It still retains the factory seat belts to keep you legal while you cruise.

Finally, we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevelle. When you look under the hood it is clean and neat. It has a 454 V8 that is mated to a 400 Turbo Trans and a 10 Bolt Rear end. There has been some upgrades done like the Polished Edelbrock intake and carb with chrome valve covers and breather. The radiator has been upgraded to Aluminum to keep it cool. It comes with factory Power Steering and Power Brakes. The exhaust was upgraded to duals with Flow Masters. When you look under this Chevelle it appears solid with the floor pans being and no visible signs of damage to the frame.

Engine: Ford 302 cubic inch V8. It has a roots style B&M supercharger with a 15 Pound boost pulley.
Forged rods and pistons, sps rod bolts, windage tray.
Edelbrock gear drive, high volume oil pump, aluminum heads that are ported with stainless valves and aluminum roller rocker arms.
The heads are mounted with Procomp studs and MLS head gaskets.
The intake and valve covers are studded with stainless hardware.
General Kinetics cam. Runs a polished 4010 Holley 750 cfm rejetted to keep up with the engine. A NOS Cheater system setup for 150 H.P.
Cooling Mist methanol/water injection installed adding another 75-150H.P.

Transmission: Ford C-4 with a shift kit and G.E.R. 1800 -2200 stall torque convertor with an oversized aluminum pan.
Custom aluminum radiator and 45,000 lb transmission cooler.
Pnuematic one piece front clip with a Harwood prostock hood scoop built in.

Fully tubbed using a narrowed Ford 9 inch rear that was installed with a 4 link system with a panhard rod.

The remote opening doors have shaved handles hidden wire power windows.
